Brittany Gowder was born and raised in Charleston, SC where she attended a small private school and developed a love for the community feel of an educational environment.
For as long as she can remember Brittany was drawn to working with children and her passion for nature and the world around us. She began at a young working on farms, giving horseback riding lessons, babysitting, teaching gymnastics, and even becoming a personal nanny. Brittany is very passionate about being part of the community. She has been a volunteer for the local nonprofit, Camp Happy Days, who helps children who are battling cancer and their families since 2015.
She was introduced to the Montessori approach through her long-term nanny family of 8 years. It was through this that her passion for Montessori was ignited and she accepted a position as an assistant teacher at a Montessori school. Brittany then attended Greenville Montessori Institute where she received her AMI Children’s House certification. She is currently in training for her Elementary Credential through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies.
Brittany loves that the Montessori environment not only accepts but embraces minds of all kinds. Following the child’s mind wherever it may lead will take us to beautiful destinations.
Brittany resides in North Charleston with her two children. You can usually find her spending her days by the water or running her small business. Brittany is beyond excited to join the community at Casa Dei Girasoli and to continue her Montessori education through Lower Elementary.
